The Trade Specialist Systems Manager sits at the heart of the People Systems team, powering the technology that keeps Laing O'Rourke's Europe hub moving. This role plays a vital part in supporting the systems used by our Trade Specialist colleagues on-site—ensuring they have the tools they need to deliver exceptional work across our projects.

With ownership of key Trade Specialist systems, you'll lead the delivery and ongoing support of critical platforms, driving seamless integrations and robust application interfaces (APIs). You'll champion consistency, compliance, and efficiency, while strengthening data governance—helping to shape smarter, more connected ways of working across the business.


Key Accountabilities

  • Supporting workforce systems activities, maintaining system guides, and Cloud modules rates review.
  • Building strong relationships with key stakeholders across the business and working with them to find the best system solutions to meet their needs
  • Managing system changes required, including prioritisation of requests
  • Looking for opportunities to streamline processes and systems and develop synergies with other People systems where possible
  • Assisting People Systems Lead to develop business cases for investment requests
  • Providing ad hoc reports for the Trade Specialists team and from the Mobility & DTA and Travel Request apps.
  • Working with the People Data Analyst to develop and maintain Trade Specialist Power BI reports including, forecasting, training and competencies, agency hours, and analysis.
  • Management of Trade Specialists Training & Competency Matrix.

  • Essential

    • Advanced experience writing SQL Server queries
    • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
    • Moderate Power BI reporting skills and knowledge of Microsoft Visio
    • Working knowledge of GDPR and DSAR requirements.

     

    Desirable

    • Knowledge of Timesheet management systems, COINS, Central Log Transfer System (CLTS) maintenance, HOD & Cloud user management
    • Industrial Relations/Human Resources knowledge.

  • Highly competent with IT solutions and capable of holding expertise across multiple systems and processes.
  • Strong problem-solving with the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and build strong relationships both within the team and across the business
  • Sound communication skills with the ability to share technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Highly analytical with the ability to understand and interrogate reports.
  • Resilience and an ability to adapt to new processes and procedures in a fast-paced environment.
  • High standard of confidentiality and ability to adhere to GDPR principles to safeguard confidential and personal information.
  • Commercial awareness and industry knowledge.
