Manufacturing Engineer – Process & Facility Development

Location: UK - Dartford, Nottingham, Worksop, Manchester

An opportunity has arisen to join a Technology & Innovation team delivering next-generation manufacturing solutions for the construction sector. The focus is on advanced, industrialised production systems including automation, digital manufacturing and factory-based delivery.

This role suits engineers experienced in designing and industrialising production systems, looking to apply that capability in a fast-paced, high-impact environment.

Who would this role suit?

Engineers from automotive, aerospace, robotics, EV/battery or advanced manufacturing, as well as construction professionals with modular, DfMA or manufacturing exposure and a clear interest in industrialisation.

About the team

The team is focused on transforming construction through manufacturing principles — developing production systems, processes and facilities that enable scalable, efficient delivery.

What does a Manufacturing Engineer do?

You will define, develop and industrialise manufacturing processes for new facilities, translating product designs into buildable, operable production systems.

Working across process design, facility layout and equipment integration, you will support delivery from concept through to commissioning and ramp-up.

What else to expect:

  • Define manufacturing processes including flow, workstation design, cycle times and throughput
  • Develop factory layouts, line configurations and material handling solutions
  • Specify equipment, tooling, robotics and automation, working with suppliers through concept, FAT/SAT and installation
  • Support commissioning, validation and ramp-up, resolving bottlenecks and performance issues
  • Collaborate across product and process in dynamic, first-of-a-kind environments

Essential experience:

  • Background in automotive, aerospace, robotics, advanced manufacturing, or construction with manufacturing exposure
  • Experience designing production lines, cells or facility layouts
  • Understanding of process flow, material handling and production systems
  • Experience with equipment specification, suppliers or automation
  • Exposure to commissioning, industrialisation or production start-up
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a practical, delivery-focused approach

Desirable experience:

  • FOAK, NPI or fast-paced delivery environments
  • Digital manufacturing or production modelling tools
  • Experience working with integrators or equipment suppliers
  • Awareness of cost, schedule and delivery constraints

Personal attributes:

  • Systems thinker with a focus on flow and efficiency
  • Comfortable working in evolving environments
  • Hands-on, curious and commercially aware
