Risk Engineer - Great Grid Partnership (GGP)

Are you an experienced Risk Engineer looking for your next challenge on a major project?

We are looking for a proactive risk professional to support the successful delivery of projects and packages by providing expert risk management advice, analysis and facilitation. Working closely with project teams, senior leaders, clients and delivery partners, you will help identify and manage risks and opportunities across cost, schedule, safety, quality and reputation.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and facilitate the identification, assessment and active management of project risks and opportunities, ensuring risk registers, assumptions and exclusions remain accurate and up to date.

  • Develop and implement risk management plans, governance and reporting, supporting the wider programme and client with clear, actionable risk insight.

  • Deliver Quantitative Schedule and Cost Risk Analysis (QSRA/QCRA) and use risk data to support forecasting, decision-making and risk exposure management.

  • Work collaboratively across project, programme, commercial, engineering, planning and PMO teams, providing coaching, training and mentoring while driving consistent risk management practices.

  • Support risk assurance, governance, maturity and continuous improvement initiatives, including monitoring KRIs, KPIs and other risk metrics.

What We're Looking For

Do you have the technical risk expertise and stakeholder skills to influence decision-making in a complex project environment?

Essential:

  • Strong communication, facilitation and stakeholder management skills, including confidence engaging with senior leaders.

  • Experience working within project or programme environments and collaborating across multidisciplinary teams.

  • Strong analytical and reporting skills, with high proficiency in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

Desirable:

  • Experience on major/mega projects or major infrastructure programmes.

  • Experience developing and implementing risk management strategies throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Competence in QRA techniques and tools, such as PRA, @RISK or Safran Risk, and risk database systems such as ARM.

  • IRM membership, APM Risk Practitioner certification or a relevant technical/management degree.
