Specialisms: Advanced 3D Modelling & Technical Detailing
Location: Dartford
Type: Permanent
Note: Sponsorship is not available for this role.
At Laing O'Rourke, our Digital Engineering team is helping to reimagine how the UK designs and builds complex projects. We use leading technology to connect ideas, people, and processes creating smarter, more sustainable ways of working.
You'll have the opportunity to work across a wide variety of major project types, including healthcare, data centres, Ministry of Defence (MoD), Ministry of Justice (MoJ), and power infrastructure and science & research facilities, helping bring clarity to complexity through compelling digital content.
We're looking for Digital Engineers and Senior Digital Engineers with a background in construction or structural MEP engineering to join our collaborative team. In this role, you'll transform technical information into clear, engaging outputs from 3D models to 4D simulations and 5D quantification making it easier for everyone involved to understand and make decisions.
Please note: Candidates with purely architectural backgrounds may not be the right fit for this role.
Based in Dartford, you'll be part of our Central Services team, working with colleagues across the country to embed digital ways of working in design, manufacturing, and construction.
What you'll be involved in
-
Planning and coordinating digital tasks, and keeping teams informed on progress.
-
Creating and maintaining accurate BIM models that meet project and client needs.
-
Presenting technical details in 3D models, drawings, and data-rich outputs.
-
Recording and sharing any design assumptions clearly with the team.
-
Building positive relationships with colleagues, clients, and partners to support BIM strategies.
-
Sharing ideas, resources, and lessons learned to help improve how we work.
-
Supporting and mentoring team members in 3D modelling, 4D sequencing, and 5D quantification.
-
Helping ensure digital outputs are high quality, clear, and on time.
What you'll bring
Essential
-
Clear communication skills and a collaborative, open approach to teamwork.
-
Understanding of design, manufacturing, and construction processes.
-
Willingness and ability to help others develop their digital skills.
-
Degree or significant experience in construction, civil engineering, or related field (not purely architectural), with at least 5 years' relevant experience.
-
3+ years' experience using BIM or 3D technology.
-
Skilled in Autodesk products (Revit, ACC Suite, Navisworks).
-
Knowledge of ISO 19650 standards.
-
Strong 3D modelling, drawing production, and BIM data management experience.
-
Ability to work both independently and as part of a supportive team.
-
Willingness to occasionally travel to other offices, projects, and events.
Desirable
-
-
-
Experience with scripting/programming (Dynamo, Python, HTML).
-
Familiarity with Solibri, Trimble Connect, Lumion, Twinmotion, or Power BI.
-
Experience with other 3D platforms (Civil 3D, Tekla, Bentley Suite, ArchiCAD).
