Role Overview   

We're offering an exciting opportunity to join our Monklands Hospital team as a Finance Apprentice. This role is ideal for someone eager to kickstart their professional career and gain hands-on experience in a dynamic finance environment.

As part of your 5-year apprenticeship, you'll study for a Level 5-8 SCQF Modern Apprenticeship Diploma in Financial & Management Accounting. You can then continue your journey to an ACCA or CIMA professional chartership. As a trainee accountant, you will work with an experienced finance professional to provide support to the project team.  You will develop hands-on skills such as Finance Reporting, Planning & Analysis whilst studying through day release.

You will need to be well organised and have excellent communication and collaboration skills.  

Key Deliverables and Accountabilities  

  • Tracking project financial performance
  • Analysing monthly project spend
  • Cash flow management
  • Assisting with the preparation of monthly management reports in accordance with the finance timetable and deadlines
  • Assisting with monthly forecasting and annual budgeting.

Apprenticeship Level and Standard 

Level 5-8 SCQF Modern Apprenticeship Diploma in Financial & Management Accounting

  • Apprentices will complete seven modules and associated exams with ACCA, plus a Foundations in Professionalism online module / or equivalent for CIMA.
  • The opportunity to continue supported study to obtain a chartered qualification and membership following completion of the remaining exams, or a further SCQF Level 11 Graduate Apprenticeship in Accounting and Finance in Scotland.

Entry Requirements    

We are looking for candidates who meet the following criteria:    

  • A minimum of 96 UCAS points across Scottish Higher BBCC or equivalent.   
  • We accept selected Foundation Apprenticeships, in combination with SQA Highers, for entry to our degree programmes. Your Foundation Apprenticeship will take the place of one SQA Higher qualification for our standard entry requirements and will be treated as equivalent to a B grade at Higher. 
  • If you have completed a Modern Apprenticeship at SCQF level 6 in a relevant discipline this would be equivalent to two Highers at B. 
  • You must be eligible to work in the UK.  We cannot offer visa sponsorship 
  • Have strong numeracy and literacy skills

  • CV Submission

  • Online Assessment  
    You will complete a series of assessments designed to understand how you approach workplace situations, your preferred ways of working, as well as exercises to evaluate your critical thinking and numerical reasoning skills.  
  • Video Interview  
    At this stage, you will be invited to record responses to two questions set by our hiring team. You will have sufficient time to prepare and ensure you present yourself confidently.  
  • Assessment Centre  
    Our in-person assessment centres, held at a LOR office, provide an opportunity for you to demonstrate your skills through a combination of individual tasks, short interviews, and group activities. This is also a chance to experience our culture first-hand.  
  • Outcome  
    We aim to provide feedback and communicate the outcome of your assessment centre within two weeks.
