We're looking for a Digital Engineer or Senior Digital Engineer to join our Central Services team in Dartford, supporting our bid and work-winning activities.

You'll deliver advanced 3D modelling, 4D simulations, and 5D model-based quantification, helping create compelling visual content that brings complex construction and manufacturing processes to life.

This role supports the deployment of digital solutions across the business and contributes to the continuous improvement of Laing O'Rourke's Digital Standards.

Key responsibilities:

  • Supporting the Digital Team Leads to scope services and deadlines for digital tasks requested company wide and regularly communicating progress and any threats to deadline and delivery.
  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to drive coordinated digital solutions that support project delivery, planning, and communication goals.
  • Translating project information into accurate and detailed 3D and 4D models, incorporating construction sequencing, staging, and logistics.
  • Responsible for the management and development of 3D models and visualisation software environments in accordance with the client and/or LOR requirements.
  • Championing the use of 4D construction sequencing tools and animation workflows to visually convey programme-critical information.
  • Implementing model-based quantification processes and supporting with visualisation of 5D outputs.
  • Drive the development of specific solutions to deliver in accordance with our Digital Standards and best practices.
  • Actively contributing towards and promoting best practice and the development of LOR's Digital Engineering service offering. Seek out opportunities to influence and share lessons learnt beyond direct line management reporting lines.
  • Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with key stakeholders, (e.g. bid/project senior leadership team, business unit specific).
  • Proactively looking for opportunities and take the initiative to enhance digital delivery, leaning on previous experience and the surrounding team to improve outcomes and efficiency.
  • Delivering digital outputs on time, to scope, and to the required standard.
  • Developing and encouraging direct reports (where applicable) through constructive feedback and mentoring to ensure excellence & consistency in delivery.
  • Mentoring and supporting trainees, fostering growth in 3D modelling, 4D sequencing, and 5D quantification techniques.

Qualifications, training and experience:

Essential:

  • Excellent communication skills and a proactive, collaborative approach to teamwork.
  • Knowledge of design, manufacturing, and construction processes, with the ability to communicate these visually.
  • Design, construction or engineering related degree or at least 5 years relatable experience.
  • At least 3 years BIM or 3D based technology related experience.
  • Experienced in 3D modelling and drawing output creation (Autodesk Revit, Graphisoft ArchiCAD or similar)
  • Experienced in visualisation and animation software applications (Lumion, Twin Motion or similar).
  • Experienced in visualisation post-production software applications and producing presentation content (Adobe Creative Cloud suite of applications – Premier Pro, After Effects, etc).
  • Working knowledge of 4D planning tools such as Synchro Pro (or similar) for time-based simulations and visual programme integration.
  • Working knowledge of model scheduling/quantification processes and ability to format in line with NRM1.
  • Ability to train others (individually and in groups), supporting their development in digital tools, 4D sequencing, 5D quantification and visualisation workflows.
  • Able to work as a team member in the Digital Central Services Team collaborating with all those around them.
  • Able to work independently, make decisions and progress at the pace agreed for the appointed task.
  • The ability and willingness to travel to other projects, offices, and group events from time to time.

Desirable:

  • Experience in advanced visualisation, animation and rendering software applications (Autodesk 3DS Max, Omniverse, Chaos Vantage, Chaos Vray, Unreal Engine, etc)
  • Experience in coding languages such as Dynamo, Python, HTML programming.
  • Experience of Solibri, Trimble Connect or Power BI.
  • Experience of working as a team.
  • Recognised BIM Qualification
  • BIM Professional Certification
