Are you a Civil Engineer who loves data? Or a data analyst who loves construction?

Laing O'Rourke are currently recruiting for a Digital Solutions Engineer to join the team in Glasgow at the Monklands Replacement Project.

This is a role that will be based primarily in Glasgow to support a fast-paced project in the delivery phase of construction. There may be opportunities to increase your influence across the country as new projects commence.

Roles & responsibilities:

  • Creation and maintenance of Laing O'Rourke Build Twin (Digital Twin for Construction) Power BI dashboards and reports, maintaining high standards of data quality, relevance, and accessibility for our key users.
  • Managing existing Power Automate flows and implementing of new flows to drive efficiencies in data handling, management, and transfer.
  • Managing the roll out of existing Power Apps and developing further updates from user feedback, establishing best practice solutions for the construction data capture.
  • Feeding back to stakeholders on the quality of data capture and upskilling staff to deliver improved consistency and quality of any user generated data.
  • Upskilling staff on the use of Power Platform and supporting the transition to modern methods of construction.
  • Identifying opportunities for digitisation or improving the quality of digitisation of data sources.
  • Working closely with all functions of the project delivery team to ensure data alignment.
  • Performing ETL, data wrangling, and data analysis of project data to provide insights to daily operations.
  • Extracting data from supply chain partners, disparate sources, and data silos to integrate together into a cohesive data model for reporting.
  • Contribution to delivery pack meetings attended by Project Leads, Project Engineers, Commercial Managers, and Planning Leads.

Requirements:

Qualifications (preferred):
Engineering/Data-related degree

Experience:

  • Some experience working within construction interfacing with trades and/or design consultants
  • Able to demonstrate understanding of common construction methods, terminology and performance metrics
  • Experience gathering requirements and translating them into technical solutions
  • Experience in creating Power BI reports
  • Experience in Power Automate and Power Apps (desirable)
  • Experience in creating Machine Learning models (desirable)
