About the programme
Through Laing O'Rourke's Graduate Development Programme, we help graduates gain practical experience, achieve professional accreditation and build the skills needed to become future leaders in the construction and engineering industry. Our Early Talent Programme will enable you to expand your networks, achieve professional and personal development, gain exposure to a variety of projects and disciplines, and develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to build a successful and rewarding career.

Role Overview and the Purpose of the role:
This role sits within the Laing O'Rourke Sustainability function, a team of over 100 professionals who support the business to deliver great outcomes for the business, our clients and our people. You'll support the business in driving our ambitions to push the boundaries of sustainability, helping us to achieve our ambition to be a net zero company delivering nature positive solutions with teams that represent our diverse society.
Key Responsibilities – What you'll do:
This role sits within the Laing O'Rourke Sustainability function, a team of over 100 professionals who support the business to deliver great outcomes for the business, our clients and our people. You'll support the business in driving our ambitions to push the boundaries of sustainability, helping us to achieve our ambition to be a net zero company delivering nature positive solutions with teams that represent our diverse society.
- Assure compliance with the LOR Energy and Environmental Management System,
- Support our project teams to embed our clients and our own sustainability requirements within the project,
- Review, advise and deliver environmental training required for project staff and operatives,
- Engage with the workforce around environmental issues,
- Collating and reporting on environmental performance,
- Ensuring that the general environmental requirements and objectives are included in inductions, toolbox talks and briefings and records are maintained,
- Ensuring that specific activity method statements, including those of suppliers, are reviewed to include the relevant environmental and waste requirements,
- Undertaking routine environmental inspections and checking monitoring arrangements are in place to meet the environmental requirements,
- Ensuring that appropriate environmental emergency arrangements are, implemented and tested as appropriate,
- Participating in management reviews and audits of the status, adequacy and effectiveness of the project Environmental Management Plan,
- Report and investigate environmental incidents and non-conformances and subsequent corrective actions,
- Participate in project related community activity (including work experience/training opportunities and charity initiatives,
- Monitor environmental performance and undertake inspections of the project,

Environment related subjects - e.g. Geography, Ecology, Environmental Sciences and related degrees

Location: National
We are recruiting for locations that we anticipate having Early Talent roles for at the time of our next programme commencement. Please note that due to the nature of the business, there could be changes to locations noted.
Our projects are based across the UK (National) so you'll need to be prepared to be flexible about where you work. Depending on project requirements, this may involve travelling, staying away from home during the week, or relocating closer to a project site. In return, you'll gain valuable experience working on a variety of projects, helping you develop your skills and broaden your career opportunities.
