Role Overview   

As a trainee planner, you will work with a project planner to provide construction planning support. This role will have a high degree of learning as you hone your planning and interpersonal skills.  

 

Key Deliverables and Accountabilities  

  • Initially produce detailed project programmes with assistance from the Project Planner and members of the project team  
  • Become competent in producing programes unaided across all elements of a project including design, procurement, construction and commissioning phases. 
  • Develop an understanding of construction delivery techniques and methodologies. 
  • Liaise with the project teams to capture / collate weekly project progress, marking up charts and drawings as necessary with as built information to support the communication of project progress within the project team. 
  • Communicate with internal departments to give and receive information. 
  • Establish, maintain communicate Key Performance Indicators (KPI's), allowing weekly build rates across key build components to be tracked, typically number or m2 completed per week vs planned.   
  • Become conversant in the use of Planning Project Management software packages, such as Primavera P6, Asta Powerproject and Synchro. 
  • Assist in the development of the project specific planning and production control systems. 
  • Assist in the production of extension of time claims in response to client instructed change. 
  • Assist in the production of detailed schedules itemising key logistical constraints. 
  • Assist in the development of design information release and material delivery schedules to site. 
  • Assist in producing project progress reports.

Locations    

As a project-led business, the location of our work can vary depending on project needs. This role may require you to be prepared to work away from home at project sites across the UK.    

 

Apprenticeship Level and Standard   

Construction site supervisor level 4 (3 years) then on to Construction site management (degree)  (3 years).  

 

Entry requirements  

We are looking for candidates who meet the following criteria:    

  • 4 GCSEs at C/4+, including Maths & English 
  • At least 64 UCAS points must have A-level Maths at grade C or equivalent OR 
  • BTEC Extended Diploma in a construction related subject (Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction and Built Environment etc)  

 

Applicants must also:      

  • Have strong numeracy and literacy skills     
  • Be flexible as you may be required to work away         
  • Be eligible to work in the UK

    You will complete a series of assessments designed to understand how you approach workplace situations, your preferred ways of working, as well as exercises to evaluate your critical thinking and numerical reasoning skills.  
  • Video Interview  
    At this stage, you will be invited to record responses to two questions set by our hiring team. You will have sufficient time to prepare and ensure you present yourself confidently.  
  • Assessment Centre  
    Our in-person assessment centres, held at a LOR office, provide an opportunity for you to demonstrate your skills through a combination of individual tasks, short interviews, and group activities. This is also a chance to experience our culture first-hand.  
  • Outcome  
    We aim to provide feedback and communicate the outcome of your assessment centre within two weeks.
