Senior Site Engineer – Enabling and Earthworks
Location: Suffolk
Join the exciting journey of one of the UK's largest nuclear projects at Sizewell C!
The Civil Works Alliance (CWA) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Site Engineer to support the successful delivery of the Sizewell C Project.
CWA, appointed by the Sizewell C client, brings together three leading delivery contractors — Laing O'Rourke, Bouygues, and Balfour Beatty — to deliver the civils scope including Enabling Earthworks, Main Civil Works, and Marine and Tunnelling.
We are seeking an Senior Site Engineer to support the delivery of the Enabling Works and Earthworks scope. This early stage of the project includes major packages such as the SSSI Crossing, ground improvements, dewatering, diaphragm walls, sea defence, Marine Bulk Import Facility (MBIF), Beach Landing Facility (BLF), construction drainage outfall and bulk earthworks.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of construction methodology solutions aligned with design development and legal constraints in the Development Consent Order
- Manage sequencing of works in line with Method-led Construction principles
- Support the integration of temporary and permanent works through sound engineering principles
- Develop concept temporary works schemes and draft design briefs
- Create logistics strategies and plans to support construction methodology
- Coordinate across discipline specialists (internal and external) to deliver integrated solutions
- Lead the development of cost and carbon estimates, and prepare detailed schedules for methodology options
- Drive adoption of modern methods of construction to improve productivity and efficiency
- Identify risks and propose mitigations, embedding BIM and digital tools into project delivery
- Capture and share lessons learned, embedding knowledge from Hinkley Point C into the SZC project
What skills & experience are we looking for?
Essential:
- Experience in major project environments at Sub Agent/Site Agent level (or equivalent)
- Broad civil engineering project experience, ideally across complex sites
- Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, planning and resourcing
- Understanding of industry safe systems of work and CDM Regulations
- Ability to challenge traditional approaches and promote modern construction methods
- Strong digital capability, including confidence working with BIM and digital models
- Excellent leadership, facilitation and communication skills
Desirable:
- Civil Engineering degree or equivalent
- Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status
