The Opportunity:

Laing O'Rourke is a key construction partner on the Letchmore Heath Substation project, a major infrastructure upgrade for National Grid in Watford.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team, based in central London, supporting the successful commercial delivery of this important project.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of key commercial activities, work closely with project stakeholders and contribute to the delivery of a major infrastructure scheme.

What will the Senior Quantity Surveyor role look like?

• Managing commercial and quantity surveying activities across allocated work packages.
• Measuring, valuing and agreeing works.
• Preparing and managing interim applications and payment certifications.
• Drafting, managing and closing out subcontracts.
• Producing monthly cost reports and commercial forecasts.
• Preparing, managing and negotiating claims and final accounts.
• Identifying, pricing and managing change control.
• Advising project teams on contractual obligations, commercial risks and opportunities.
• Producing contract reviews, BPR information and management reports.
• Supporting project budget establishment from contract award.
• Building strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and project stakeholders.
• Mentoring and supporting junior members of the commercial team.

What skills and experience are we looking for?

• Experience in a Senior Quantity Surveyor role, or a Quantity Surveyor ready to take the next step.
• Strong knowledge of NEC contracts.
• Experience in infrastructure, power, utilities or other complex construction projects.
• A degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline.
• Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
• A practical, commercially focused approach to managing risk and maximising value.
• RICS membership is desirable but not essential.
