The Civil Works Alliance (CWA), appointed by the Sizewell C client, unites three industry-leading contractors — Laing O'Rourke, Bouygues, and Balfour Beatty — to deliver the full civils scope, including Enabling Earthworks, Main Civil Works, and Marine and Tunnelling.

Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, the Project Controls Manager will oversee planning and scheduling to support the delivery of Stainless-Steel Pools, Tanks, Liners, Sumps, and all Special Embedded Parts for Sizewell C. You will manage project controls within agreed constraints, including productivity, time, and cost through integrated Earned Value Management.

Embedded within the manufacturing team, you will review and approve subcontractor programmes and develop onsite manufacturing schedules aligned with the main civils programme milestones. Functionally, you will report to the Civil Works Alliance Project Controls Lead for Main Civil Works, ensuring control processes meet safety, quality, time, and cost requirements to support the Sub-Section's objectives.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and deploy project controls for the Sub-Section, aligning with project goals and requirements.
  • Support and maintain Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS), and coding systems for accurate reporting.
  • Develop and implement Earned Value Management (EVM) and generate progress and performance reports.
  • Lead development and maintenance of Integrated Master Schedules (IMS) across fabrication and manufacturing scopes.
  • Collaborate with Civil Works Alliance (CWA) planning teams and enforce planning standards.
  • Perform Quantitative Schedule Risk Analysis (QSRA) and include schedule contingencies.
  • Analyze schedule variances and develop recovery options.
  • Coach team members on planning processes and project controls best practices.
  • Monitor and report on project KPIs and earned value metrics for effective decision-making.

 

What skills & experience are we looking for?

Essential:

  • Experience communicating schedule updates to Senior Management in complex manufacturing projects.
  • Strong leadership in schedule management and related processes.
  • Ability to guide teams on Project Controls, Planning, and Scheduling tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with clients, contractors, and designers.
  • Proven experience developing and maintaining project controls and schedules across multiple capital projects.
  • Skilled in defining and improving planning approaches.
  • Solid knowledge of Project Management and Planning techniques.
  • Proficient in Primavera P6 and Earned Value Management (EVM).
  • Experience integrating multiple schedules and managing Change and Risk systems.
  • Familiar with interfacing planning with Cost and Change Control.
  • Security clearance as required.

Desirable:

  • Formal Primavera P6 training.
  • Experience with CEMAR or similar contract management tools.
  • Knowledge of NEC contracts.
