We are seeking a high-calibre Senior Digital Engineer to join our Custodial (MoJ Prisons) Digital Engineering team. Reporting to the Project Technical Leader or Project Digital Lead, you will lead the implementation of Laing O'Rourke's digital systems, processes, and project-level digital transformation strategy.

A key focus of the role is ensuring compliance with client requirements, BIM objectives, and supporting project teams in adopting advanced digital engineering methods, including 3D modelling, data utilisation, and digital visualisation for design, manufacturing, and construction.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation of Digital Engineering across pre-construction, construction, commissioning, and handover.

  • Support and upskill project staff through training sessions, workshops, and ongoing communication.

  • Manage and develop the project BIM model in line with client and LOR requirements.

  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with consultants, suppliers, clients, and other stakeholders.

  • Lead design teams and subcontractors in meeting 3D modelling deliverables aligned with scope and programme.

  • Develop project-specific digital solutions aligned with LOR Digital Standards.

  • Promote best practice and contribute to the ongoing evolution of LOR's Digital Engineering service.

  • Mentor and support direct reports where relevant.

  • Work closely with technical and design teams on BIM coordination and package management.

  • Maintain strong relationships with senior project and business unit stakeholders.

  • Ensure governance and QA compliance, including digital performance reporting.

  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in digital delivery, drawing on experience and project learning.


Qualifications, Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

  • Willingness to train others and support their digital literacy.

  • Strong understanding of design, manufacturing, and construction processes.

  • Degree in architecture, construction, engineering, or ≥5 years relevant experience.

  • ≥3 years BIM or 3D-technology experience.

  • Proficient with Autodesk Revit, ACC Suite, and Navisworks.

  • Good knowledge of ISO 19650 standards.

  • Experience in 3D modelling, drawing production and BIM data management.

  • Ability to work on-site within construction teams.

  • Self-motivated with strong decision-making skills.

  • Willingness to travel between sites and offices.

Desirable

  • Coding experience (Dynamo, Python, Power Automate).

  • Experience with Solibri, Assemble, Trimble Connect, Lumion, Twinmotion, Power BI.

  • Experience with Bentley tools (ProjectWise, MicroStation).

  • Experience leading teams or managing others.

  • Recognised BIM qualification and/or BIM Professional Certification.
