Senior Design Manager (Electrical) – Data Centres – Didcot, South Oxfordshire

Are you an experienced Senior Design Manager from an electrical background, ready to lead the design on a cutting-edge data centre project? We are recruiting for a key role based in Didcot, South Oxfordshire, offering the opportunity to play a pivotal part in the successful delivery of one of the most complex and high-profile projects in our portfolio.

Why this role?

  • Be at the heart of a technically complex data centre project, responsible for overseeing the electrical design delivery.

  • Lead multi-disciplinary design teams through early engagement, detailed design, and successful handover.

  • Drive innovation and sustainability across the project lifecycle, utilising Laing O'Rourke's industry-leading digital and offsite manufacturing capabilities.

Who we're looking for:

We're keen to hear from Senior Design Managers with:

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering (or relevant discipline) and ideally Chartered status.

  • Strong experience in large-scale, high-complexity projects such as data centres, pharmaceutical/life sciences facilities, healthcare estates, advanced manufacturing, or critical national infrastructure.

  • A collaborative mindset, confident working with client teams, designers, and delivery partners.

  • Deep understanding of design governance, risk management, and change control processes.

Transferable Sectors:

Experience in sectors where high integrity electrical systems are paramount is highly valued. Candidates from Data Centres, Healthcare, Life Sciences, Advanced Manufacturing, Aviation, Defence, or High-Tech Industrial sectors will thrive in this environment.
