Security Manager – Main Civils Works
Location: Security Manager - Suffolk

The Civil Works Alliance (CWA), appointed by the Sizewell C client, unites three industry-leading contractors — Laing O'Rourke, Bouygues, and Balfour Beatty — to deliver the full civils scope, including Enabling Earthworks, Main Civil Works, and Marine and Tunnelling.
The focus of the role is to assist in the development and maintenance of security solutions which protect the CWA's people, physical assets, information, and reputation within the SZC site. The role is site based and will operate at an operational level across work areas within the SZC site and its affiliated sites nearby.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver CWA's Security Management Plan, including for subcontractors, in line with SZC expectations.
- Act as Key Personnel with authority to influence decisions impacting the security of CWA personnel, assets, and reputation.
- Lead and manage sufficient security personnel to implement, validate, and maintain proportionate protection measures for people, property, information, and operations.
- Identify threats, assess risks, and develop cost-effective mitigation strategies per the SZC Security Vulnerability Assessment process.
- Serve as SME security advisor to CWA leadership and support proactive planning to design out adversarial risks in work execution.
- Support CWA's HR and IT teams in delivering personnel security, cyber security, and information assurance measures.
- Maintain knowledge of CWA's execution plan, schedule, critical assets, and project milestones.
- Work closely with SZC Security and nominated representatives to align with site-wide security expectations and deliverables across all CWA-operated sites.
- Promote SZC security directives and awareness initiatives across CWA personnel.
- Represent CWA in SZC's Site Security Community of Practice and contribute to joint security assurance programmes, including incident response, reporting, and security-walks.
What skills & experience are we looking for?
Knowledge & Skills
- Relevant experience in operational policing, military, or commercial security within construction, engineering, oil & gas, mining, or similar industries, supported by appropriate security qualifications.
- Demonstrates personal and professional integrity of the highest calibre; must pass pre-employment screening, site vetting, and site induction.
- Committed to continuous professional development and demonstrates intellectual depth and a willingness to learn.
- Fluent in English (spoken and written); confident, articulate presenter in meetings.
- Effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills; able to collaborate and influence across operational areas to gain buy-in.
- Self-starter with strong problem-solving ability; capable of working independently and adjusting priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Skilled in investigations, including conducting interviews and managing the integrity of evidence in misconduct cases.
- Proficient in MS Office and quick to learn internal IT systems.
