Security Officer

Laing O'Rourke, in partnership with Select Security, is recruiting Security Officers to join the security team on one of our projects in Oxford.

This is a long-term night-shift position, typically working 48 to 60 hours per week, with an average of approximately 54 hours per week.

The role

We are looking for professional and dependable Security Officers with experience in protecting premises, ideally within a construction environment.

You will play an important role in maintaining a safe and secure site, preventing unauthorised access and helping to ensure members of the public do not inadvertently enter restricted or unsafe areas.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Conducting regular foot patrols across the site
• Monitoring the premises and helping to prevent unauthorised access
• Carrying out routine security and health and safety checks
• Identifying and reporting potential security or safety concerns
• Maintaining a professional and visible security presence
• Working collaboratively with the wider security and project teams

What we are looking for

To be considered for this role, you will need:

• A valid SIA licence in Security Guarding, Door Supervision or Close Protection
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• The ability to work effectively as part of a large security team
• A collaborative approach when working with colleagues across the project
• Strong customer service skills and a professional approach
• Sound judgement, reliability and integrity
• The confidence to remain professional and composed when dealing with challenging situations
