Safeguard the Future of Laing O'Rourke – Risk Manager

The Opportunity: 

We are looking for a dynamic and forward-thinking Risk Manager to join our Risk & Assurance team. This is a pivotal opportunity to shape the way Laing O'Rourke identifies, evaluates, and manages risk across our European Hub's operations.

You will work closely with the Group Head of Risk, Ethics & Compliance to enhance our enterprise risk framework and embed a proactive, risk-aware culture throughout the business. This is a role for someone who blends strategic oversight with hands-on delivery—supporting business leaders to anticipate risk, build resilience, and make confident, informed decisions.

As Risk Manager, you will be a trusted advisor, and an integral part of a team committed to best-in-class governance, continuous improvement, and transparent assurance.

What will the role look like? 

You will lead on:

• Developing and embedding enterprise-wide risk management frameworks, policies, and procedures.
• Facilitating the identification, assessment, and monitoring of risks across all business units and functions.
• Supporting the definition of risk appetite and delivering insight-driven reporting to senior leadership.
• Providing direction and support to internal assurance team as it executes functional and project assurance plans.
• Driving risk awareness through training, compliance coordination, and stakeholder engagement.

What skills & experience are we looking for? 

We are looking for a confident communicator and analytical thinker, who can influence across levels and geographies. Ideally, you will bring:

• Proven experience in enterprise risk management within a medium-to-large organisation, ideally with a background in construction.
• Strong understanding of risk methodologies, regulatory frameworks, and compliance standards.
• Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives, influence senior stakeholders, and drive a culture of risk awareness.
• A relevant degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field, with a structured and analytical approach to assurance.
