Project Manager - Cable Route

As a Project Manager, you'll play a key role in delivering projects safely, on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards. You'll work closely with planning and construction teams to develop accurate programmes of work, monitor progress, and communicate resource requirements effectively. A big part of the role is ensuring safety remains a top priority, driving zero tolerance for unsafe practices, and leading meetings to review safety, quality and progress. You'll also support innovation and continuous improvement by adopting new ideas and best practice across the project. With responsibility for reporting, resource coordination, and ensuring project management systems are implemented effectively, you'll help keep everything on track while maintaining strong communication with clients and teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Assurance standards, on programme and to stringent safety parameters
  • To work with the planning team to develop detailed and accurate short term programmes of work
  • To interface with the construction manager and sections managers to share best practice and ensure effective resource utilisation
  • To monitor external changes to work plans and report the effect of change
  • To lead section meetings to review safety, quality, progress and design.
  • To ensure effective implementation Laing O Rourke project management systems and procedures
  • Contribute to the contract review process.
  • To chair safety committee meetings on a monthly basis, take minutes, distribute and carry out all actions

Technical Capabilities:

  • Construction methods, practices and knowledge – the development of a body of knowledge and capability in current construction and installation methods
  • Knowledge of existing structures surveys and repairs
  • Experience of working in and around existing structures and operations
  • Experience of working during early works enabling and initial works and as part of preconstruction services
  • Quality management – processed and standards, technical requirements and monitoring
  • Trade contractor management – the ability to apply vigilance in trade contractor selection, monitoring and standards

  • The ability to work with initiative when outside influences affect planned operations
