The Quantity Surveyor Opportunity:
Laing O'Rourke are currently recruiting a Quantity Surveyor to join the team in Chelmsford.
We have been appointed as construction partner for National Grid's Great Grid Partnership programme, which forms part of a supply chain framework that will also support infrastructure projects beyond 2030.
What will the role look like?
- All commercial duties including measurement, valuation and agreement of work sections.
- Assist with preparation of interim applications for payment and internal valuations.
- Manage live subcontract packages, including commercial administration, change and performance.
- Management and reporting of monthly costs.
- Draft, manage and settle subcontracts, with assistance.
- Preparation, agreement, maintenance and filing of records.
- Advise project management on contractual implications of intended courses of action.
- Assisting in preparation of claims.
- Identifying change and administering the change control process.
- Assisting with the preparation of final accounts, including pricing.
- Drafting and preparation of monthly contract review reports.
- Drafting and preparation of weekly Business Performance Review (BPR) information.
- Keep your manager fully advised of any issues/risks which have arisen or might arise and which could affect the business/project.
- Communicating clearly and confidently to a professional standard.
- Day-to-day management of any trainee and/or assistant Commercial personnel.
What skills & experience are we looking for?
- Experience managing live subcontract packages under NEC contracts.
- Degree in Quantity Surveying; RICS membership is desirable but not essential.
- Experience working on power, energy or infrastructure projects.
