 Purpose of the role:

To support the Central Engineering Team to ensure the processes required for the quality management of the surveillance function are properly established, implemented and maintained.

 

Key responsibilities and specific accountabilities:

·       Manage the team which performs surveillance on BYLOR's Tier 2 contractors, currently consisting of coating inspectors and welding inspectors and assist with the planning of surveillance processes.

·       Provide guidance and review / comment on the preparation of deliverables such as Quality Plans, Method Statements, Inspection & Test Plans, Work Procedures, Material Approval Forms, Quality Record Templates, End of Manufacturing / Construction Status Reports, Work Instructions, and so on. This will include deliverables prepared by Suppliers.  Assist in preparation of these deliverables as agreed.

·       Provide guidance on the selection and application of sampling plans for quality control and quality surveillance; prepare or assist in preparing quality surveillance plans for specific work scopes.

·       Provide input and comment on quality requirements for procurement packages.

·       Participate in risk management, lessons learned, deviation analysis, identifying quality related activities in relation to nuclear safety

·       Support the implementation of the quality management system through quality training and coaching.

·       Monitor that the processes are delivering their intended outputs

·       Identify, plan and conduct surveillance checks and audits to verify that management system and work processes are being properly performed, that the processes are delivering their intended outputs, and that evidence to demonstrate this is retained. Auditing will include supplier assessment audits.

·       Ensure non-conformances in products and processes are properly managed, cause is properly identified, corrective and preventive actions are properly defined and implemented.

·       Intervene when the quality of works is at risk or has been affected and escalate to senior management level as appropriate to ensure proper resolution.

·       Report on the performance of the management system, on opportunities for improvement, and on the need for change or innovation

·       Monitor and report on the performance of the Quality Management Systems and work execution processes to ensure conformance of the works and achievement of objectives through reviews, monitoring, audits, inspections and analysis.

·       Periodically review and update the Quality Management System documents to ensure they remain applicable throughout the project life cycle

·       Provide regular reports to inform of current issues and actions, and their status.

·       Regularly review the results to identify areas for improvement and define related actions, and then follow up their implementation.

·       Promote awareness of project requirements and customer focus throughout the organization

·       Collaborate with the Clients team and their designers to facilitate agreement of quality and surveillance processes and promote acceptance of BYLOR and supplier generated documentation

·       Promote the various management policies, objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs).

 

 

Key Skills & Competencies

 

·       Previous experience in a Quality Management or Quality Surveillance position with a good understanding of the Civil Construction and Engineering industries.

·       An ability to communicate at all levels is essential as you will be responsible for attending meetings, and facilitating and presenting on quality matters, to project teams, suppliers and Client organisations.

·       A high level of organisation and the ability to multi task is essential as you will have the responsibility for planning and completing many tasks simultaneously, and coordinating a team of Welding Inspectors. 

·       Computer literacy to include Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office Suite with skills in Word, Excel and Power Point.

·       Good experience with ISO 9001:2015, and in delivering Quality Audits.

 

 

Additional Information:

All positions with Bylor are employed directly with either Laing O'Rourke or Bouygues Travaux Public and include competitive salaries, private medical insurance, company pension schemes and annual holiday allowance. Some grades will also include a company car allowance.

 

Unless stated otherwise all positions are based at Hinkley Point C in Somerset.
