Shape the future of healthcare infrastructure with one of the UK's leading engineering and construction innovators.
Laing O'Rourke has been delivering complex, transformational projects for over 160 years. As we embark on the next major milestone in Scotland's healthcare landscape - the Monklands Replacement Hospital Project - we're seeking a Project Quality Lead to champion world‑class quality, compliance, and right‑first‑time delivery across this flagship programme.
The Opportunity
As Project Quality Lead, you'll be at the forefront of ensuring that every aspect of the project is executed to the highest standards. You'll shape the quality culture on site, lead a dedicated quality team, and play a pivotal role in delivering a state-of-the-art acute hospital for NHS Lanarkshire.
This is a senior, hands‑on role ideal for someone who thrives in complex environments, builds strong relationships, and sees quality as a driving force for productivity, risk reduction, and client satisfaction.
What You'll Be Doing
- Leading the implementation of our ISO 9001 and BS 99001 certified Quality Management System throughout the project.
- Owning and maintaining the Project Quality Plan, ensuring quality is embedded in day‑to‑day delivery.
- Providing expert guidance on Quality Plans, ITPs, work procedures, materials approvals, and supply chain deliverables.
- Carrying out regular site and offsite manufacturing visits, with the authority to pause work where required.
- Overseeing Field View deployment and managing digital assurance protocols.
- Ensuring progressive, accurate, and complete quality records, maintaining the golden thread of information.
- Managing the Project Handover Plan and supporting NEC Supervisor interactions.
- Coaching, mentoring, and engaging the project workforce to foster a positive quality culture.
- Leading investigations, root cause analysis and continuous improvement through the Quality Incident Event Process (QIEP).
- Using data, digital tools, and analytics to elevate decision‑making and performance.
This is your chance to guide quality delivery for a complex, high‑assurance healthcare project that will shape the future of patient care in Scotland.
What You'll Bring
- 10+ years' experience in quality leadership across assurance, governance, compliance, and improvement.
- Background in high‑assurance sectors such as healthcare, nuclear, rail, or energy.
- Strong understanding of ISO 9001:2015, BS 99001, and related standards.
- Experience managing teams and influencing at all levels.
- Confidence with digital construction tools such as FieldView, Asite and Trimble.
- Proven capability in risk management, stakeholder engagement, and driving continuous improvement.
- Internal/Lead Auditor certification (desirable) and/or membership of CQI or equivalent (desirable).
