Project Quality Engineer

Location: Friston – Kiln Lane Substation

Laing O'Rourke is delivering key elements of The Great Grid Upgrade for National Grid. The Kiln Lane substation is a major, long‑term project supporting the UK's future energy network.

We are looking for a Project Quality Engineer to support quality assurance and compliance on site, working closely with the delivery team to drive Right First Time outcome

The Role

Site‑based Quality Engineer role on the Kiln Lane project
Responsible for quality assurance and compliance for a defined area or package of works
Act as the main quality point of contact for your scope
Work closely with engineers, supervisors, and the supply chain to maintain high standards

Key Responsibilities

Implement the ISO 9001 / BS 99001 QMS and Project Quality Plan
Review and support Quality Plans, ITPs, Method Statements, and supplier documentation
Carry out routine quality inspections and surveillance on site
Use Field View and Asite to manage digital assurance and the golden thread
Support handover documentation and O&M information
Manage NCRs, defects, and close‑out actions
Promote a strong Right First Time quality culture across the site

What We're Looking For

3–5 years' experience in a Quality / Assurance / Compliance role
Strong background in civils and fit‑out works
Experience in regulated environments (Energy, Rail, Nuclear, etc.) beneficial
Good understanding of ISO 9001
Comfortable working site‑based and engaging with delivery teams
Experience with Field View, Asite, or similar systems desirable
