Project Planner | Healthcare Infrastructure

Location: Brighton, Sussex (Site-based)


Shape the future of healthcare infrastructure with Laing O'Rourke.

We're looking for a Project Planner to support the delivery of the Sussex Cancer Care Centre Project—a major healthcare development on the south coast.

This is an excellent opportunity for an up-and-coming planner to develop their career on a high-profile project, working alongside an experienced and supportive team. You'll play a key role in planning, controls, and reporting as the project mobilises into delivery in Summer 2026.


What you'll do

As a Project Planner, you'll support the development and management of project programmes, contributing to effective planning, coordination, and project controls. You will:

  • Develop and maintain project programmes in line with project and contractual requirements
  • Support planning and coordination processes across the project team
  • Establish logical construction sequences that optimise time, cost, and delivery
  • Monitor progress, analyse performance, and support reporting with mitigation measures
  • Coordinate time-related information across stakeholders, partners, and supply chain
  • Contribute to weekly and monthly reporting requirements
  • Work closely with commercial, design, and construction teams to align programme delivery
  • Support the implementation of project controls in line with Laing O'Rourke systems (iGMS)
  • Assist in identifying risks, trends, and opportunities within programme data
  • Contribute to process improvements and continuous development of planning practices
  • Support and coach junior team members where required

 

What we're looking for

We're looking for a motivated and detail-oriented planner who is keen to develop their career in a project delivery environment. You'll need:

  • Experience supporting planning on construction or infrastructure projects
  • Ability to develop and maintain project programmes and associated reporting
  • Understanding of project controls, forecasting, and performance analysis
  • Experience working with project management systems and planning tools
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise effectively
  • A proactive approach with a willingness to learn and develop

Desirable

  • Experience on healthcare or major infrastructure projects
  • HNC / Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or similar
  • Membership of CIOB (or working towards)
  • Exposure to pre-contract planning or work-winning activities
  • Experience with 4D planning/modelling and digital construction tools
  • Understanding of NEC or other standard forms of contract
