At Laing O'Rourke, we are delivering some of the UK's most complex and technically challenging infrastructure projects. We are seeking an experienced Project Leader to join our Power & Nuclear sector, leading major programmes that play a vital role in supporting energy security, economic growth and the transition to a more resilient energy network.

The Opportunity
As a Project Leader, you will provide overall leadership and direction for major projects within the Power & Nuclear sector. You will be responsible for creating a culture of safety, collaboration and performance while ensuring projects are delivered to programme, budget and quality expectations.
Working with clients, stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams, you will lead the successful delivery of complex infrastructure projects from planning through to completion, helping establish Laing O'Rourke as the delivery partner of choice across the energy sector.
What Will the Role Look Like?
You will:
- Lead the safe and successful delivery of major power, nuclear and critical infrastructure projects.
- Create and maintain a high-performing, collaborative and delivery-focused project culture.
- Develop strong relationships with clients, supply chain partners and key stakeholders.
- Provide leadership across operational, commercial, engineering and project delivery teams.
- Drive programme certainty, delivery excellence and commercial performance.
- Identify and manage project risks, opportunities and strategic priorities.
- Ensure projects meet safety, quality and regulatory requirements.
- Champion innovation, modern methods of construction and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support the development and growth of future project leaders and delivery professionals.
What Are We Looking For?
We are interested in individuals who can successfully lead large, complex project teams and deliver outstanding outcomes in challenging environments.
You may currently be working as a:
- Project Leader
- Project Director
- Senior Project Manager
- Programme Manager
- Operations Leader
within construction, infrastructure, engineering, power, nuclear, industrial or safety-critical industries.
Essential Experience
- Proven experience leading large-scale infrastructure or engineering projects.
- Strong stakeholder management and client engagement capability.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams.
- Commercial and programme leadership experience.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to deliver results within complex and highly regulated environments.
- Commitment to safety leadership and operational excellence.
Desirable Experience
- Nuclear sector experience.
- Experience within power generation, energy, transmission and distribution or other critical infrastructure sectors.
- Understanding of regulatory and safety-critical project environments.
- Degree qualified in an engineering, construction or related discipline.
- Professional membership with a relevant industry body.
