Project Engineer – Rebar specialist
Location: Sherwood, other locations considered (Dartford, Worksop).

A civil / structural engineering professional with digital exposure or a Project Manager who has come through an engineering route.
What does the Strategic Programmes Manufacturing team do in technology & innovation of Rebar?
The mission is clear. To industrialised civil engineering through automation, robotics and industry principles. Unlocking productivity and transforming how major infrastructure is delivered.
They own the full reinforcement ecosystem. This includes cutting, bending, pre-assembly and installation. This is done by utilising the latest digital techniques and automated manufacturing facility here in the UK.
What does a Project Engineer do in the manufacturing team?
The Project Engineer takes ownership to define technical packages within the programme. Setting up digital teams to track progress and ensure delivery against the plan. This is done via interrogation, review and critique of rebar detailing models. Technical compliance is essential for all deliverables and the relevant codes. This includes the development of temporary works designs and rebar temporary work solutions.

- Manage technical interfaces
- Escalate risks
- Technical reporting
- Development and refinement
- Package planning and resource allocation
Essential experience:
- Degree-qualified in civil, structural or a related engineering discipline — Or able to demonstrate digital build capabilities.
- Significant experience in reinforcement engineering — including rebar modelling, detailing and assembly on major construction or nuclear programmes
- Demonstrable expertise in temporary works design and rebar temporary works, including familiarity with relevant standards (e.g. BS 5975)
- Proficiency in 3D rebar modelling software — experience with Trimble Tekla or equivalent reinforcement detailing platforms
- Ability to read, interpret and critique complex structural drawings and BIM models
- Experience managing engineering interfaces with clients, design organisations and supply chain partners
- Strong problem-solving capability — able to work through complex technical challenges with a structured, methodical approach
Desirable experience:
- Experience of digital reinforcement engineering processes and tools is highly desirable
- Progressing towards Chartered Engineer status (ICE, IStructE or equivalent) is an advantage
- Familiar with nuclear quality assurance requirements and the rigour expected in safety-critical environments
