Join the exciting journey of one of the UK's largest nuclear projects at Sizewell C!

The Civil Works Alliance (CWA) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Engineer to support the successful delivery of the Sizewell C Project.

CWA, appointed by the Sizewell C client, brings together three leading delivery contractors — Laing O'Rourke, Bouygues, and Balfour Beatty — to deliver the civils scope including Enabling Earthworks, Main Civil Works, and Marine and Tunnelling.

As a Project Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the pre-construction phase, reviewing design changes from Hinkley Point C, creating methodologies, managing temporary works, and assisting in clash resolution. You'll collaborate across multiple sections of the project to identify interfaces and help implement a connected BIM strategy.

The scope includes installation of large diameter concrete gravity systems and pressurised pipe networks—unparalleled in scale within the UK—requiring strong technical expertise and an appetite for challenge

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce construction methodology solutions development in-line with design development that take cognisance of the site constraints and interfaces.
  • Support subject matter expertise to resolve construction challenges.
  • Identify temporary works requirements; draft and manage design briefs
  • Coordinate and collaborate with a variety of discipline specialists (both in-house capability and external supply chain) predominately at the pre-construction phase
  • Inform the planning team with installation durations
  • Champion Engineered Safety
  • Drive the adoption of modern methods of construction to improve productivity
  • Identify risks associated with the works and develop mitigations
  • Implement BIM and digital tools to enhance pre-construction and delivery
  • Record lessons learnt and capturing knowledge for the future
  • Understand Lessons learnt from HPC (First of a Kind) to transfer to SZC (Next of a Kind), working with the Sizewell C client and CWA to embed the learning.

What skills & experience are we looking for?

  • Proven experience in heavy civils and installation of deep buried services.
  • Knowledge of precast concrete construction and associated challenges and benefits.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Interest in design management and leveraging AI for construction efficiency.
  • Effective communicator with ability to work independently and proactively

Why SZC?

This is your chance to contribute to one of the UK's most ambitious infrastructure projects, shaping the future of energy while working in a supportive, dynamic environment. Be part of a team that values innovation, safety, and sustainability at every stage of the journey—from investment to construction and beyond.
