Logistics Controller | Stansted
Location: Stansted, Essex
Site-based
Reporting into the Logistics Manager, you'll take ownership of key day-to-day logistics activities, making sure the movement of people, materials, plant and deliveries is coordinated safely and efficiently.
This role will involve working independently to an extent, so we're looking for someone who already understands construction logistics, is confident making decisions on site and can build strong relationships with different teams and subcontractors.
What will you be doing?
You'll help keep the site moving by:
- Coordinating the safe and efficient movement of goods, materials, plant and people across site.
- Managing and monitoring deliveries, gate movements and delivery bookings.
- Working closely with package managers, engineers, procurement teams and subcontractors to coordinate logistics requirements.
- Supporting traffic management plans, access routes and delivery call-off plans.
- Planning physical material movements around the site.
- Helping coordinate temporary services, welfare facilities and site access.
- Supporting waste management and safe loading and offloading activities.
- Communicating changes to logistics plans clearly across the project.
- Identifying opportunities to improve how logistics activities are planned and delivered.
What are we looking for?
For this particular role, previous construction logistics experience is essential. You'll need to be comfortable working in a busy site environment where priorities can change quickly.
Ideally, you'll bring:
- Previous experience in a construction logistics or similar site-based role.
- A good understanding of construction activities, deliveries and plant movements.
- Experience coordinating logistics across a live construction site.
- Knowledge of traffic management, delivery management and safe site access.
- Confidence working independently and taking ownership of your area.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Good organisation skills with a proactive approach.
- Competent IT skills and confidence using delivery management systems.
- Relevant CPCS card or logistics training where appropriate.
Most importantly, we're looking for someone who is visible, proactive and confident on site, with the experience to spot potential issues early and keep operations moving safely and efficiently.
