At Laing O'Rourke, innovation is at the heart of how we deliver some of the UK's most complex engineering and infrastructure projects.

We're looking for an Innovation Engineer to join our team based in Dartford. This is an exciting opportunity to help identify, develop and implement new ideas, technologies and ways of working that improve how we design, manufacture and deliver major projects.

The successful candidate is expected to support innovation initiatives linked to major programmes, including the Sizewell C nuclear project. You'll work with project teams, technical specialists and business stakeholders to turn innovative ideas into practical solutions that improve safety, productivity, quality and sustainability.

What will the role involve?

Identifying opportunities to improve processes, systems and project delivery
Researching emerging technologies and industry best practice
Supporting the development and implementation of innovative solutions
Assisting with trials, prototypes and proof-of-concept activities
Working closely with project teams to understand operational challenges and opportunities
Collecting and analysing data to measure performance and support decision-making
Producing reports, presentations and recommendations for stakeholders
Supporting the adoption of new technologies and innovative ways of working
Collaborating with internal teams, suppliers and external partners
Championing a culture of continuous improvement and innovation

What are we looking for?

You'll ideally have:

An engineering, construction, manufacturing or technical background
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
A curious mindset and willingness to explore new ideas
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
The ability to translate ideas into practical, deliverable solutions
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Experience working within complex project environments would be advantageous
A proactive approach and desire to make a positive impact
