Purpose of the Role
As a Site Engineer on Hinkley Point C, you will support the planning, coordination, and delivery of construction activities within your allocated work area. Working as part of the engineering team, you will help ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with project requirements for quality, programme, cost, and scope.
Reporting to the Project Engineer, you will work alongside Section Engineers and Site Engineers to support the successful delivery of one of the UK's most significant infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
Planning & Preparation
- Review drawings and design information, raising technical queries to minimise delays.
- Support the preparation of method statements and risk assessments.
- Monitor material quantities and support procurement activities.
- Ensure survey equipment is maintained, calibrated, and fit for purpose.
Construction Delivery
- Interpret drawings and specifications, providing clear guidance to supervisors and operatives.
- Communicate effectively with site teams and project stakeholders.
- Support temporary works management and fulfil the role of Temporary Works Supervisor where required.
Quality & Control
- Provide dimensional control for allocated works.
- Implement Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and ensure all required inspections and sign-offs are completed.
- Carry out quality checks and identify, report, and support the resolution of non-conformances.
- Maintain accurate engineering and quality records.
Project Completion
- Undertake as-built surveys and support the compilation of project records.
- Collate quality documentation for handover and assurance purposes.
- Provide feedback on materials, subcontractors, plant, and design solutions to support continuous improvement.
What We're Looking For
- Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
- Experience working with reinforced concrete construction.
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings and construction processes.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Experience using EDM/Total Station survey equipment.
- Previous Temporary Works Supervisor experience.
- Experience on large infrastructure or major civil engineering projects.
- Collaborative and proactive approach.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Professional, safety-focused, and process-driven.
- Committed to reducing waste and driving continuous improvement.
All positions with Bylor are employed directly with either Laing O'Rourke or Bouygues Travaux Public and include competitive salaries, private medical insurance, company pension schemes and annual holiday allowance. Some grades will also include a company car allowance.
Unless stated otherwise all positions are based at Hinkley Point C in Somerset.
