Health & Safety Advisor – CWA Wide
Location: Suffolk
Join the exciting journey of one of the UK's largest nuclear projects at Sizewell C!
The Civil Works Alliance (CWA) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Health & Safety Advisor to support the successful delivery of the Sizewell C Project.
CWA, appointed by the Sizewell C client, brings together three leading delivery contractors — Laing O'Rourke, Bouygues, and Balfour Beatty — to deliver the civils scope including Enabling Earthworks, Main Civil Works, and Marine and Tunnelling.
We are seeking a Health & Safety Advisor to support the delivery of the Enabling Works and Earthworks scope. This early stage of the project includes major packages such as the SSSI Crossing, ground improvements, dewatering, diaphragm walls, sea defence, Marine Bulk Import Facility (MBIF), Beach Landing Facility (BLF), construction drainage outfall and bulk earthworks.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the implementation of CWA's Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HSW) strategy across weekend working
- Undertake compliance inspections, tours and audits, providing fact-driven reports and recommendations
- Advise operational teams during planning to identify and address risks effectively
- Investigate incidents and support events management, ensuring accurate reporting and lessons learned are captured
- Deliver or support training and advisory sessions to project teams and Tier 2 contractors (e.g. setting to work, incident investigation, occupational health, safety management system familiarisation)
- Promote a positive health and safety culture across all levels of the CWA project structure
- Support Zero Harm initiatives and drive the use of reporting tools to ensure actions are closed out and feedback provided
- Engage effectively with stakeholders, ensuring communication and compliance with project standards and CWA SMS
What skills & experience are we looking for?
Essential:
- NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety
- Minimum Grad IOSH (or working towards)
- Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation
- Competence in accident/incident investigation and reporting
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and promote a positive HSW culture
- CSCS competence card
Desirable:
- NEBOSH Diploma or NVQ equivalent in Occupational Health and Safety
- Previous experience as a Health and Safety Advisor within a construction or infrastructure environment
- IT skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
