The Commercial Manager Opportunity
Expanded Structures, the specialist reinforced concrete basement, substructure and superstructure construction division of Laing O'Rourke, is recruiting a Commercial Manager to join the team on a major bridge project in East Suffolk.
This is an opportunity to take responsibility for commercial delivery across a significant project section, working with project teams, clients and supply chain partners throughout the project lifecycle.
What will the role look like?
- Manage commercial activities across your project section from pre-construction through to completion.
- Monitor financial, contractual and commercial performance, supporting successful project delivery.
- Prepare monthly cost reports, contract reviews, BPR information and business planning inputs.
- Manage subcontract procurement, administration, accounts and claims.
- Manage change control and support effective risk and opportunity management.
- Provide commercial and contractual advice to project teams and key stakeholders.
- Maintain robust commercial governance and contract compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
- Identify and escalate risks or issues that could impact project or business performance.
- Support best practice, continuous improvement and the development of colleagues within the Commercial team.
What skills & experience are we looking for?
- Degree (or higher) qualified in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering or Commercial Management.
- RICS membership is desirable, although not essential.
- Strong working knowledge and practical application of NEC contracts.
- Direct delivery experience within civil engineering or infrastructure environments.
- Experience managing projects through the full project lifecycle.
- Experience managing subcontract packages, change, risk and commercial performance.
- Experience working collaboratively with project teams, clients and supply chain partners.
