Building Safety Coordinator

Flexible location: Dartford, Sale, St Neots or Nottinghamshire
Permanent role | Travel required

Looking for a role where no two days are the same?

Do you enjoy being organised, solving problems, working with people and learning new things?

Are you ambitious, curious and keen to build a career in a growing area of the construction industry?

If so, we'd love to hear from you.

We're looking for a Building Safety Coordinator to join our expanding Building Safety team at Laing O'Rourke. Over the last 18 months, this team has grown rapidly and continues to play an increasingly important role in how we deliver safe, compliant and high-quality buildings.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants to develop their career, gain exposure to senior stakeholders and become part of a team that is helping shape the future of building safety.

What's the role all about?

This is a varied, hands-on position where you'll support the team across a wide range of activities.

One day you might be:

  • Coordinating meetings and workshops
  • Creating presentations for senior leaders
  • Maintaining key compliance records and trackers
  • Supporting training activities and onboarding
  • Gathering lessons learned from projects

The next, you could be:

  • Supporting Building Regulations compliance processes
  • Tracking important project milestones
  • Updating competence and capability records
  • Helping monitor business-wide Building Safety requirements
  • Working with technical experts across the organisation

No two days are the same, and that's exactly what makes this role exciting.

Who might be a good fit?

We're open-minded about background and experience.

You could come from any technical or regulated environment:

  • Architecture
  • Design Management
  • Engineering

Maybe you're early in your career and looking for your next challenge.

Maybe you're already in a coordination role and want something with more visibility, variety and long-term opportunities.

Either way, we're looking for someone who is:

✅ Proactive and willing to get stuck in

✅ Highly organised and detail-focused

✅ Comfortable managing multiple priorities

✅ Confident communicating with different stakeholders

✅ Keen to learn and develop new skills

✅ Curious about building regulations and building safety

✅ An independent thinker who enjoys improving how things are done

What you'll bring

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and SharePoint
  • Great organisational skills and attention to detail
  • The ability to build positive working relationships
  • Experience coordinating activities, projects, documentation or business processes
  • A willingness to learn and take ownership
  • A flexible approach and enthusiasm for tackling a broad range of tasks
  • Your own unique skills, experiences and perspective. We're keen to hear what you can bring to the team and how you could help us continue to evolve and improve.

Why join us?

This is a high-profile area of the business and a genuinely important role.

Building Safety is central to our licence to operate and continues to evolve across the industry. As part of this team, you'll gain valuable experience, work alongside subject matter experts and have the opportunity to influence how we continue to improve.

Most importantly, we're looking for someone who brings fresh ideas, energy and ambition.

We're not just looking for someone to maintain processes. We're looking for someone who wants to help shape them.

Ready for your next challenge?

If you're someone who enjoys variety, wants to grow their career and is excited by the opportunity to be part of a fast-growing, business-critical team, we'd love to hear from you.

Bring your enthusiasm, your ideas and your ambition. We'll give you the opportunity to make a real impact.
