At Laing O'Rourke, we are looking for a detail-focused building safety and compliance professional who takes pride in high-quality inspection, clear records and getting things right first time.
If you come from a Clerk of Works, Warranty Inspection, Building Control or Assurance background, this role offers the opportunity to apply your expertise on the Brighton 3Ts Redevelopment Project, helping deliver one of the UK's most significant healthcare construction programmes.
You will play a key role in supporting our statutory duties as Building Regulations Principal Contractor (BRPC), ensuring that work is inspected, evidenced and delivered in line with Part 2A of the Building Regulations.
What you will be doing
- Acting as a trusted assurance lead on site, supporting delivery teams to meet BRPC duties during construction.
- Carrying out regular, risk-based inspections, with a strong focus on quality, workmanship and compliance.
- Producing clear, auditable inspection records and ensuring issues are followed through to close-out.
- Working closely with Registered Building Inspectors and Building Control Approvers, including joint inspections where required.
- Promoting a proactive assurance culture where quality and compliance are embedded throughout delivery.
- Supporting the assessment of contractor competence, ensuring those delivering work are suitably capable.
- Acting as a key liaison between client, designers and contractors to ensure clarity of responsibilities.
- Contributing to continuous improvement by sharing lessons learned and driving best practice.
What you will likely bring
- A background in inspection, assurance or building control roles such as Clerk of Works, Warranty Inspector or Registered Building Inspector.
- Experience working with Building Regulations and compliance frameworks on complex construction projects.
- A strong eye for detail and the ability to identify issues early and document them effectively.
- Confidence in influencing site teams while maintaining a balanced and pragmatic approach.
- Experience maintaining robust records that can withstand external scrutiny.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications (desirable)
- Degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline such as Building Surveying, Construction, Architecture or Engineering.
- Chartered status, or working towards chartership, with a recognised body such as RICS, CABE or similar.
Why this role may appeal
- A chance to apply your expertise on a landmark healthcare project that will transform hospital facilities for future generations.
- An opportunity to influence quality, compliance and building safety within a highly regulated environment.
- Working within a business that is actively shaping best practice in building safety and assurance.
- The opportunity to contribute to a major NHS redevelopment programme that will have a lasting impact on patients, staff and the local community.
