At Laing O'Rourke, we are looking for a detail-focused compliance professional who takes pride in high-quality inspection, clear records, and getting things right first time.

If you come from a Clerk of Works, Warranty Inspection, or Building Control background, this role offers the opportunity to apply your expertise on one of the UK's most significant healthcare construction programmes, with real influence over quality, safety, and assurance.

You will play a key role in supporting our statutory duties as Building Regulations Principal Contractor (BRPC), helping ensure that work is inspected, evidenced, and delivered in line with Part 2A of the Building Regulations.

What you will be doing

  • Acting as a trusted compliance lead on site, supporting delivery teams to meet BRPC duties during construction
  • Carrying out regular, risk-based inspections, with a strong focus on quality, workmanship, and compliance
  • Producing clear, auditable inspection records and ensuring issues are followed through to close-out
  • Working closely with Registered Building Inspectors and Building Control Approvers, including joint inspections where required
  • Promoting a robust inspection culture, where assurance is proactive rather than reactive
  • Supporting the assessment of contractor competence, ensuring those delivering work are suitably capable
  • Acting as a key liaison between client, designers and contractors to ensure clarity of roles and responsibilities
  • Contributing to continuous improvement, sharing lessons learned and raising standards across the project

What you will likely bring

  • A background in inspection, assurance, or building control roles such as Clerk of Works, Warranty Inspector, or Registered Building Inspector
  • Solid experience working with Building Regulations and compliance frameworks, ideally on complex or large-scale projects
  • A strong eye for detail, with the ability to identify issues early and document them clearly
  • Confidence in engaging with site teams while maintaining a balanced, pragmatic approach
  • Experience maintaining accurate, defensible records that stand up to scrutiny
  • The ability to prioritise effectively in a fast-paced delivery environment

Qualifications (desirable)

  • Degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline such as Building Surveying, Construction, Architecture or Engineering
  • Chartered status, or working towards chartership, with a recognised body such as RICS, CABE or similar

Why this role may appeal

  • A chance to apply your inspection expertise on a landmark healthcare project that will transform hospital facilities for the local community
  • An opportunity to influence quality and compliance at a system level, supporting the safe delivery of a highly regulated environment
  • Working within a business that is actively shaping best practice in building safety, assurance and modern methods of construction
  • The opportunity to contribute to the successful delivery of a major NHS redevelopment programme

Apply

If you are motivated by high standards, strong evidence, and supporting teams to deliver compliant, high-quality buildings, we would be pleased to hear from you.
