Brief overview of your day-to-day responsibilities: My day to day role involves supporting CHt employees, managing absence and employee wellbeing, assisting with resourcing and mentoring opportunities, and handling employee relations cases. 

Key achievements or highlights to date: I have always enjoyed providing a high level of customer service, so receiving positive feedback from employees who I have supported through difficult times is truly rewarding. I am very proud that I have achieved my Level 3 CIPD qualification. I have studied, alongside working full time and raising two children, one with a disability, and I am proud of my dedication and hard work. I am now studying for my Level 5 CIPD qualification.  

What attracted you to the industry? The thought of being a part of projects that are changing and improving the world I live in was exciting. I thought it was also an interesting challenge and opportunity working as a woman in a male dominated industry.  

What drew you to apply for your role at Laing O'Rourke? I wanted to work for a corporate company, that could offer me career progression, opportunity and structure. I also really loved the idea of working for a family run business and felt personally aligned to our values of care, integrity and courage.  

Any tips for the recruitment process? Do your research and be yourself. 

What advice would you give to students looking for a professional apprentice role? Absolutely go for it, an apprenticeship offers you an amazing opportunity to learn from experienced professionals in a corporate environment, while gaining your qualification and building all the skills you need to be successful in your career.
