The Civil Works Alliance (CWA) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Planner to support the successful delivery of the Sizewell C Project.

CWA, appointed by the Sizewell C client, brings together three leading delivery contractors — Laing O'Rourke, Bouygues, and Balfour Beatty — to deliver the civils scope including Enabling Earthworks, Main Civil Works, and Marine and Tunnelling.

We are seeking a Senior Planner to provide planning leadership for a defined fabrication scope within the Metalwork delivery team supporting the Civils Works Alliance on the SZC project. Develop, maintain, and control integrated schedules for Pools, Tanks & Sumps packages, coordinating inputs from subcontractors and interfaces to ensure safe, efficient, and timely delivery. Support project execution through robust programme management, risk and change analysis, stakeholder coordination, and progress reporting to ensure delivery to scope, schedule, and cost commitments 
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and manage the Works Schedule, including change management and continuous improvement.
  • Provide planning leadership and guidance to the project and programme teams.
  • Ensure schedule compliance with planning procedures, contract requirements, and industry best practice.
  • Collaboratively develop efficient sequencing and methodology across design, procurement, and construction.
  • Support the Senior Project Manager in project controls, baseline management, reporting, and schedule assurance.
  • Produce planning deliverables including schedules, planning philosophy, narratives, reports, and presentations.
  • Analyse critical path, progress, KPIs, trends, and risks, recommending corrective and mitigation actions.
  • Manage and assess change, including schedule impact analysis and support to commercial evaluations.
  • Liaise with site teams and supply chain to validate progress, forecasts, and future work sequencing.
  • Review, challenge, and align subcontractor and medium‑term programmes with the Portion and master schedule.
  • Manage resource loading and levelling to optimise labour, plant, and materials while minimising risk and delay.
  • Support BIM coordination, mentor planning team members, and ensure environmental constraints are reflected in the programme

What skills & experience are we looking for?

  • Technical Proficiency: Proven experience as a Civil Engineering Planner with proficiency in NEC and P6. Good understanding of project/programme controls
  • Safety Culture: Foster a strong safety culture within the project team and among contractors. This involves promoting a mindset where safety is a top priority, and all workers are encouraged to report safety concerns or incidents promptly.
  • Experienced in the production and management of Construction Programmes in a civil engineering/ Infrastructure environment. Preferably on medium to large scale infrastructure projects
  • Experience the planning of Works with different disciplines is required, which should include some of the following: Highways, Rail, Utilities, Site Establishment, Earthworks, Marine structures, Ground improvement and engineering and general civil engineering works.
