Expanded Piling are currently recruiting for a Quality Engineer to work on Sizewell C.

Location: Leiston, Suffolk

Role & responsibilities:

  • Guide, review, and comment on execution deliverables (Quality Plans, Method Statements, ITPs, Work Procedures, Material Approvals, etc.), including those from suppliers; assist in preparation as required.
  • Support management of quality deviations (NCRs, Technical Changes/Queries), reviewing adequacy of corrective actions and promoting prevention of recurrence.
  • Drive continuous improvement through lessons learned, knowledge sharing, RCA, benchmarking, and workshops; perform statistical analysis of NCRs and report on quality performance.
  • Support digital construction tools (e.g., Power BI, Field View, Asite, Trimble) for quality records, reporting, and data-driven decision making; establish effective processes for Field View forms.
  • Collaborate on partitioning strategies for Life Time Quality Records (LTQR) and ensure progressive handover to the client, including O&M manual support.
  • Plan and conduct audits, surveillance checks, and site visits to verify compliance and intervene/escalate when quality risks arise.
  • Promote project requirements, customer focus, and Quality Commitments/Values; represent Quality in meetings with internal teams, suppliers, and clients.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and training to staff and suppliers, reinforcing a Right First Time culture and industry best practices through site engagement and toolbox talks.
  • Maintain working knowledge of iGMS, liaise with Governance, and support updates/developments.
  • Support and prepare for third-party certification audits (e.g., BSi, Achilles).
  • Participate in Europe Hub Quality briefings/forums to share cross-sector lessons learned.

Requirements:

  • A Practitioner Member of the Chartered Quality Institute (PCQI) (or an equivalent recognised Quality body), or working towards, or an appropriate engineering institute.
  • Technical understanding of civils construction and all aspects of Piling.
  • Good experience with ISO 9001:2015, and in reviewing and generating key Quality documents such as Inspection and Test Plans, Quality Plans and Life Time Records.
