The Opportunity:

Select Plant Hire is looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Quantity Surveyor to join the team in Dartford. This is an opportunity to develop your commercial expertise, work closely with project teams and contribute to the effective commercial management of projects.

What will the role look like?

• Supporting the commercial management of allocated work sections and packages, including measurement, valuations and agreement of works.
• Assisting with the preparation, administration and settlement of subcontracts, interim applications, internal valuations and final accounts.
• Monitoring costs, forecasts and commercial performance, maintaining accurate records and documentation.
• Supporting project and senior management teams with commercial and contractual advice.
• Identifying and managing variations, claims, commercial risks and opportunities, escalating issues where appropriate.
• Assisting with monthly contract review reports and weekly Business Performance Review (BPR) information.
• Building effective working relationships with project teams, subcontractors and other stakeholders.
• Developing your commercial and contractual knowledge while taking on increasing responsibility as your experience grows.

What skills and experience are we looking for?

• A degree or higher qualification in Quantity Surveying, or working towards a relevant qualification.
• Experience in a Quantity Surveying or commercial role within the construction industry.
• An understanding of commercial and contractual management, with knowledge of subcontract administration desirable.
• Good communication, negotiation and organisational skills.
• A proactive approach to learning, with the ability to work collaboratively and take ownership of responsibilities.
• The ability to identify potential commercial risks and opportunities and seek support when needed.
