PSIO – Virtual Control Room Coordinator

Location – Dartford

Permanent, Full time (Part time considered)

Can you help Laing O'Rourke turn information into actionable knowledge?  Do you enjoy bringing data together and coordinating tasks?  Can you dive into the detail, and then to step back to see the bigger picture?  Are you able to communicate at all company levels?  Can you identify and analyse data to draw valuable recommendations and interventions to manage business risks?

The opportunity:

The Project Support & Integration Office (PSIO) is seeking a Virtual Control Room Coordinator to coordinate data and activities within the Virtual Control Room.  This role offers a unique opportunity to work across cross-functional project datasets.  The PSIO Virtual Control Room was implemented in 2023 as a centre of excellence on portfolio management and provides leading indicator insight to the Executive and Functional leadership teams.  The Virtual Control Room delivers value as the business integration engine with systems thinking and process improvement driven by data at its core.

What you will be doing in the role?

The purpose of the Virtual Control Room Coordinator is to:

  • Find, capture and evaluate cross-functional performance data and records across the LOR project portfolio to deliver inputs into the virtual control room monthly output to the EU Hub Executives.
  • Monitor project performance data as defined by the Project Support & Integration Office.
  • Define and maintain schedules and plans.
  • Maintain action trackers.
  • Write reports and memos.
  • Support coordination of activities within the Virtual Control Room, and integration activities with functions.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for improving the value of insights delivered by the Virtual Control Room - one place to find relevant and up to date information on projects and functions to use for timely decision making by the EU Hub Executive.

What technical skills do you need to bring?

  • Finding, collating and monitoring data and records.
  • Facilitating reviews and workshops with functions and projects to surface and select useful data.
  • Identifying leading indicators that can be used for trend forecasting at portfolio level for the EU Hub.
  • Transforming data into knowledge and actionable insights.
  • Managing executive reporting cadence
  • Presenting data & information clearly

What other skills and experience are we looking for?

  • Ability to see actions through either directly or as part of a team.
  • Ability to influence and communicate thoughts, opinions, or information with others.
  • Ability to combine personal qualities with relevant context and experience to form sound opinions and make decisions in the absence of clear or complete data.
  • Ability to deliver within structured reporting cadences set by the Virtual Control Room.
  • Curious to seek continuous improvements to automate manual data collection processes.
  • Has or is seeking to develop broad business understanding
  • Recommended prerequisite to have completed, or actively pursuing, the Multiverse Data Academy.

Are you able use project management tools and techniques in a business environment? Do you have numerical and analytical acumen?  Do you see yourself as a problem solver that can gather, merge and assess data?  Can you use that data to determine and implement solutions to complex issues and bring people on the journey with you? Then this could be the position for you.
