Project Façade Engineer  

Location: Based in Halifax with potential for national projects in the future

Ready to take ownership of a major Healthcare façade project?

Laing O'Rourke is seeking a Project Façade Engineer to join our Halifax team. You'll lead the design and delivery of a high-profile Healthcare project, with the opportunity to expand into other sectors over time: Data Centres, Defence, Science & Research, Nuclear, and Green Energy.

What you'll own:

  • Lead façade design coordination – from concept to completion. Can you foresee and resolve design challenges?
  • Oversee technical reviews, risk management, and value engineering. How would you approach critical design decisions?
  • Manage subcontractor design, manufacture, and installation. Are standards and tolerances consistently met?
  • Ensure compliance, quality, and zero-harm safety principles. How do you keep everything on track and safe?
  • Report progress, lead package meetings, and align design with commercial and programme objectives.

Who you are:

  • Degree-qualified in engineering, architecture, or construction management. MSc in Façade Engineering or SFE membership desirable.
  • 5+ years' post-university experience in design and façade-related projects
  • Experienced in façade projects with technical due diligence.
  • Skilled in managing subcontractors and multi-discipline teams.
  • Strong grasp of façade engineering principles – mechanics, thermal physics, optics, acoustics.
  • Problem solver who anticipates issues like water ingress or cold bridging.
  • Clear communicator and decisive leader.
