What is the role?

If you're looking ahead to your next project, we're recruiting an experienced Mechanical Construction Manager to join a landmark science and research development in Oxford, starting in October 2026. This is an opportunity to get involved early on a flagship project and help shape delivery from day one. 

You'll play a leading role delivering highly technical facilities within the science and research sector where you'll be responsible for overseeing the mechanical package on site, driving programme, productivity, safety, and quality throughout the delivery phase.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Lead and manage the on-site mechanical workforce, ensuring productivity targets are achieved
  • Coordinate installation, commissioning, and close-out of mechanical systems
  • Work closely with planners, engineers, and supervisors to drive programme and progress
  • Maintain the highest standards of health, safety, and quality throughout the project
  • Ensure labour, materials, and plant are effectively planned and available when required
  • Support short-term planning and sequencing of work packages
  • Oversee subcontractor performance and ensure accountability for delivery
  • Promote strong collaboration and communication across all trades on site

 

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience delivering mechanical services on large-scale, complex construction projects
  • Strong leadership and workforce management skills with the ability to drive performance on site
  • Excellent knowledge of HVAC, public health, and mechanical plant installations
  • Strong planning, coordination, and communication abilities
  • Good understanding of health & safety legislation, quality standards, and construction processes
  • HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent industry experience)
