At Select, part of the Laing O'Rourke Group, we deliver smart, temporary electrical and mechanical site services across some of the UK's most complex construction projects. We're now looking for an Electrical Estimator / Designer to join our friendly, experienced Estimating team in Dartford.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys blending technical design, estimating, and collaboration - whether you're well‑established in your career or ready to take the next step.
What you'll be working on
- Temporary electrical & mechanical site services
- Projects ranging from £500k to £5m+
- Systems from 110V low-voltage through to high-voltage infrastructure
- A mix of internal projects (Laing O'Rourke, CHT, Expanded – ~80%) and external tendering opportunities
Your role
You'll play a key part in developing competitive, practical and accurate tenders, including:
- Producing cost estimates, designs and scopes for temporary site services
- Creating schematics, cable calculations and detailed design drawings
- Working closely with operations, bid teams, suppliers and subcontractors
- Managing tender documentation, estimate files and handover packs
- Helping grow Select's presence with external clients
What you'll bring
- Experience in electrical estimating (construction or temporary works)
- A good understanding of temporary mechanical & electrical systems
- A first‑principles, practical approach to estimating
- Strong Excel skills (essential); TRIMBLE ProDesign is a bonus
