2026 - Digital Engineer MEP - Apprenticeship

Role Overview   

An apprentice MEP (Mechanical, Electrical & Public health) Digital Engineer can be involved with a range of digital activities within our MEP business stream. For example, these opportunities could be:  

  • Production of fully coordinated 3D design, construction, and as built models.  
  • Interrogation of design consultant's models to assess quality and compliance with current standards.  
  • The use of automation and technology to assist the project team to gain an understanding of the MEP installation on our projects.  
  • Production of accurate fabrication and manufacturing models and drawings, for use with our DfMA (Design for Manufacture and Assembly) facilities.  
  • The use of Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality and 3D scanning capabilities to compare proposals to the final installations.  

The MEP Digital Engineering team provide the capability to fully engineer our projects before commencing work on site, ensuring an optimised engineered solution, technical excellence, maximised use of offsite products, reduced waste, and enhanced delivery efficiency. All our engineers are part of our Engineering Enterprise and aligned with our overall strategy to maximize DfMA, Digital Engineering, and Early Engagement.

Location    

As a project-led business, the location of our work can vary depending on project needs. This role may require you to work away from home at project sites across the UK. Also, to support your growth, build your skills and increase your knowledge, your placement may be rotated through different parts of the DE team. 

 

Apprenticeship Level and Standard  

Construction design and build technician Level 4, 36 months, and then move on to Level 6, 48 months  Design and construction management (degree)     

 

Entry requirements 

We are looking for candidates who meet the following criteria:   

  • 96 UCAS points
  • 4 GCSEs at C/4+, including Maths & English  

 Applicants must also:  

  • Have strong numeracy and literacy skills 
  • Have good communication and organisational skills 
  • Be eligible to work in the UK.  We cannot offer visa sponsorship 
  • Have an interest in their chosen area and are committed to the long-term requirements of the apprenticeship programme

  • Online Assessment 
    You will complete a series of assessments designed to understand how you approach workplace situations, your preferred ways of working, as well as exercises to evaluate your critical thinking and numerical reasoning skills. 
  • Video Interview 
    At this stage, you will be invited to record responses to two questions set by our hiring team. You will have sufficient time to prepare and ensure you present yourself confidently. 
  • Assessment Centre 
    Our in-person assessment centres, held at a LOR office, provide an opportunity for you to demonstrate your skills through a combination of individual tasks, short interviews, and group activities. This is also a chance to experience our culture first-hand. 
  • Outcome 
    We aim to provide feedback and communicate the outcome of your assessment centre within two weeks.
