Role Overview
At Laing O'Rourke, our Digital team helps bring greater confidence to project costs, quality, programmes, and safety by building and coordinating designs in a virtual environment before they're built. By focusing on smart, innovative solutions that provide long-term value, we ensure our clients get the most out of a digital approach.
As a Digital Engineer Apprentice, you'll play an important role in supporting our digital team, helping to meet business goals and client needs. You'll work closely with different teams and gain hands-on experience with a variety of digital tools and methods. Thanks to our flexible approach to projects, you'll have the chance to learn and develop through a range of activities, such as:
- Creating 3D models
- Checking designs to ensure no issues when building
- Estimating quantities and costs using digital tools
- Creating animations to visualize how projects will be built
- Working with data to create easy-to-read reports and dashboards
- Exploring the use of virtual and augmented reality
- Automating repetitive tasks to save time
- Creating clear and engaging step-by-step guides for construction

Apprenticeship Level and Standard
Construction design and build technician Level 4, 36 months, and then move on to Level 6, 48 months Design and construction management (degree)
Entry requirements
We are looking for candidates who meet the following criteria:
- 4 GCSEs - preferably grades 7-4 in Math's and English
- 64 UCAS points across 3 A-levels including Math's or science, or BTEC or Equivalent
- Have strong numeracy and literacy skills
- Have good communication and organisational skills
- Be eligible to work in the UK. We cannot offer visa sponsorship
- Have an interest in their chosen area and are committed to the long-term requirements of the apprenticeship programme

CV Submission

Online Assessment
You will complete a series of assessments designed to understand how you approach workplace situations, your preferred ways of working, as well as exercises to evaluate your critical thinking and numerical reasoning skills.

Video Interview
At this stage, you will be invited to record responses to two questions set by our hiring team. You will have sufficient time to prepare and ensure you present yourself confidently.

Assessment Centre
Our in-person assessment centres, held at a LOR office, provide an opportunity for you to demonstrate your skills through a combination of individual tasks, short interviews, and group activities. This is also a chance to experience our culture first-hand.

Outcome
We aim to provide feedback and communicate the outcome of your assessment centre within two weeks.
