Trade and Technical Apprentice – Steel Fixer

What is Steel Fixing?

A steel fixer is a trades person on site who ties and installs steel bars known as rebar and steel mesh that is used to strengthen concrete on our construction projects.

The Laing O'Rourke Apprenticeship programme - what can you expect?

Our Trade and Technical Apprenticeship programme is developed for individuals with a passion for construction and engineering. It combines college and work-based training, allowing you to build your skills and gain a recognised qualification while working on some of the most exciting projects in the UK.

The Trade and Technical Apprenticeship programme provides you with a formal college education, leading to a Level 2 and/or 3 apprenticeship standards in your chosen vocation. You will also gain a broad set of technical skills through on-the-job training, supported by our qualified and experienced workforce, and construction professionals. A dedicated mentor and approved training provider will work closely with you, providing regular feedback on your progress towards completing your apprenticeship.

You will also need to meet the following criteria:

  • Eligibility to work in the UK
  • Full mobility to enable travel to various project locations where needed
