At Laing O'Rourke, we're looking for an experienced Senior Utility Surveyor to join our growing surveying team. Working across major infrastructure, construction and civil engineering projects nationwide, you'll play a key role in identifying, mapping and managing underground assets that enable projects to be delivered safely and efficiently.
This is an opportunity to work with industry-leading technology, support high-profile projects, and contribute to some of the UK's most significant construction and infrastructure schemes.

Recent UK utility surveying experience is essential for this role. Applicants must have practical experience working within UK utility networks, UK surveying standards and PAS128 requirements.
What you'll be doing
- Leading and delivering utility surveys to PAS128 standards
- Identifying, locating and mapping underground utilities, including electricity, gas, water, telecommunications and drainage networks
- Operating and interpreting data from GPR, electromagnetic locators, GPS and Total Stations
- Producing accurate utility records, reports and drawings
- Supporting project teams with safe planning and delivery of construction activities
- Working closely with project managers, engineers and digital teams
- Providing technical support and mentoring to developing surveyors
- Maintaining the highest standards of health, safety and quality throughout survey activities
What we're looking for
- Proven experience as a Utility Surveyor within the UK infrastructure, construction or civil engineering sector
- Strong understanding of UK utility networks, standards and surveying best practice
- Experience delivering PAS128 utility surveys
- Level 5 Diploma in Utility Mapping & Surveying, or equivalent experience
- Proficiency using GPR, electromagnetic locators, GPS systems and Total Stations
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Willingness to travel nationally
Desirable
- CICES Membership or equivalent
- Experience working on major infrastructure or civil engineering projects
