In this role, you will:

  • Lead structural input on Tenders and Pre-Construction Service Agreement (PCSA) engagements for DfMA projects.

  • Collaborate with production teams on temporary works and lifting designs.

  • Support bid teams by developing DfMA-based alternative designs to improve pricing and reduce risk.

  • Drive innovation by applying parametric design techniques to optimize DfMA components and support Laing O'Rourke's net zero carbon commitment by 2050.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and review precast structural elements for manufacture, transport, handling, and installation.

  • Interpret project specifications to ensure structural compliance and performance.

  • Deliver value engineering solutions that balance client needs and manufacturing constraints.

  • Mentor and develop junior engineers.

  • Convert in-situ schemes into precast components with appropriate connection strategies.

  • Provide tender-stage structural assessments and cost evaluations using CEMC's product range.

  • Innovate to achieve efficiencies in carbon reduction and material use.

  • Maintain expertise in DfMA principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.

  • Contribute to ongoing product development and new product introductions.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • Passion for leading structural design innovation.

  • Proactive and self-motivated with strong problem-solving skills.

  • Reinforced concrete design experience.

  • Engineering degree and Chartered Structural Engineer status or working toward it within 24 months.

  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience, ideally in structural design engineering.
