Explore Manufacturing, part of Laing O'Rourke
Shape the Future of Digital Design in Construction
Join Explore Manufacturing's Reinforced Concrete (RC) Modelling Team – the digital design hub at the heart of Laing O'Rourke's world-class precast expertise. You'll help deliver next-generation Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) solutions across some of the UK's most ambitious and sustainable projects.
About the Role
As an Reinforcement Engineer, you'll support the creation of detailed 2D and 3D manufacturing information for precast concrete components, using leading platforms such as Tekla Structures, Trimble Connect, and Revit.
Working alongside our structural, DfMA, and production engineering teams, you'll ensure every model and drawing meets the highest standards – compliant with Eurocodes, British Standards, and Laing O'Rourke's manufacturing guidance.
This role offers a unique opportunity to develop your skills at the intersection of digital engineering, design, and advanced manufacturing.
What You'll Be Doing
- Producing and releasing accurate 3D models, 2D drawings, and associated metadata for precast elements.
- Collaborating with structural and design teams to ensure manufacturability and compliance with lifting, handling, and transport requirements.
- Supporting bid and tender stage design through modelling and viability studies.
- Contributing to product development, value engineering, and low-carbon design innovation.
- Assisting in managing design data across Common Data Environments (CDEs).
- Engaging with production teams to resolve design queries and improve detailing workflows.
- Championing digital quality, lean design processes, and continuous improvement.
What You'll Bring
- A keen interest in digital design, reinforced concrete, and DfMA.
- Experience or familiarity with Tekla Structures, AutoCAD, or similar CAD/BIM software.
- Understanding of precast concrete manufacturing – or enthusiasm to learn.
- Strong attention to detail with a proactive, collaborative mindset.
- A desire to develop innovative, low-carbon, and efficient design solutions.
- A degree or HNC/HND in Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline (preferred).
