The Quantity Surveyor Opportunity:
Expanded Structures is the specialist reinforced concrete basement, substructure and superstructure frame construction division of Laing O'Rourke and is currently recruiting a Quantity Surveyor to join the team in East Suffolk.
We have been appointed as construction partner for National Grid's Great Grid Partnership programme, which forms part of a supply chain framework supporting critical infrastructure projects across the UK and beyond.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to gain experience across a major infrastructure programme while developing their commercial and contractual knowledge.
What will the role look like?
- Supporting quantity surveying and commercial activities across allocated work packages.
- Supporting measurement, valuation and agreement of works.
- Preparing and managing interim applications and payment certifications.
- Assisting with drafting, managing and closing out subcontracts.
- Supporting monthly cost reporting and commercial forecasting.
- Assisting with claims, final accounts and commercial negotiations.
- Identifying, pricing and managing change control.
- Supporting project teams with contractual obligations, commercial risks and opportunities.
- Producing contract reviews, BPR information and management reports.
- Supporting project budget establishment and ongoing cost management.
- Building effective relationships with clients, subcontractors and project stakeholders.
- Working collaboratively with the wider Commercial team.
What skills & experience are we looking for?
- Degree (or higher) in Quantity Surveying; RICS membership desirable but not essential.
- Working knowledge and practical application of NEC contracts.
- Experience within direct delivery, construction, civil engineering or infrastructure environments, ideally across the project lifecycle.
- Strong analytical, commercial and organisational skills, with a willingness to learn and progress within the Commercial function.
