The Opportunity: 

This is a rare opportunity to join Laing O'Rourke's pioneering Technology & Innovation team, an in-house centre of excellence redefining how major infrastructure is conceived, designed, and delivered. You will be part of the group driving the transformation of the UK's built environment through digital engineering, product innovation, and modern methods of construction (MMC).

As Facades & Envelope Product Lead, you will play a critical role in shaping and delivering scalable, digitally enabled façade systems. You will lead innovation efforts across concept design, development, and implementation, with a particular focus on repeatable, efficient, and sustainable envelope solutions.

This is a leadership role for someone who is excited by the potential of product-led thinking in construction and eager to see their work come to life across some of the UK's most complex infrastructure and building projects.

You will collaborate with design teams, digital engineers, manufacturers, and site delivery leads—transforming envelope design through intelligent systems and a component-led mindset.

What will the role look like? 

You will be central in:

• Leading and managing the development of façade systems using a kit-of-parts approach for strategic sectors such as Healthcare, Data Centres, and Research
• Guiding a cross-functional team to drive technical detailing, product improvements, and design for manufacture and assembly (DfMA)
• Embedding systems thinking and MMC practices into façade innovation projects and digital workflows
• Acting as a facade innovation ambassador, supporting research, new material exploration, and digital configuration tools

What skills & experience are we looking for? 

We are looking for a hands-on leader with both technical expertise and strategic vision. Ideally, you will bring:

• A background in facades, architecture, or structural engineering, with strong product design knowledge
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage innovation projects from concept through to deployment
• Knowledge of envelope system standards, façade integration, and engineering workflows
• Experience using simulation and design tools, with an interest in parametric or automation-based design
• Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and project leadership skills
